Your Nav Bar Here

8,392

I feel a little lame for admitting this, but yesterday I wore a pedometer - on my belt loop, haha!  I know it may not have been the best example of my activity level (on Tuesday Chicago had a major snow storm), since I was in 5 lb. sorel snow boots and I was avoiding the outdoors on my lunch hour.  BUT, I am happy to report that (without adding extra trips to the bathroom or cheating by walking around the 45th floor a bunch of times) on an average working desk-job-kinda-day I get 8,392 steps in.  And I took the contraption off at 7p because John and I were having our friend Julia over.

Feeling not so sedentary afterall!

All I need to do is add a little lunch hour trip around the block and maybe a walk after dinner and HELLO HEALTHY!

I've been pretty inspired by this guy right here:

My dad!  He was recently telling me that he had gained a bit of weight and then listed off a few changes he made to get back in shape - the pedometer was one of them.  He has a daily "step" goal and cuts out soda.  He's almost right back to where he needs to be, I'm so proud of him!  It's amazing what being aware of the little things can do to keep you healthy.

So here's to one of the healthiest 51 year olds I know (soon to be 52).

Maybe I'll set a 3-month goal (like walk to California or something) and then my reward could be these?!

Had to get my shoe fix in somewhere...

  1. I love you Sarah...forever and ever, amen.

p.s. Don't forget, 10,000 steps to maintain your weight, 12,500 steps to lose weight. About.com has a good list of Pedometer Step Equivalents for Exercises and Activities. Be careful on that trip to San Fran. Go Get 'Em Twigger!
