Inspiration: Welcome to the World

I spotted this creative baby shower over on You Are My Fave and I need to dedicate a post to this idea!  If I ever have a baby shower thrown in my honor - this would be my first choice!  As an homage to the next few weeks of baby shower posts I'm planning (two dear friends have asked my to help with inspiration for their summer baby showers), let's kick off the baby fever with map motifs and such!

GET THE LOOK:
For this one I recommend using paper projects to carry your theme.  The map motif can make an appearance on everything from gift wrap to pinwheels - you can go real vintage and intermix airmail stripes and suitcases or you can keep it quaint.  Below are some resources for picking up map-related goodies!

Grab a map poster to frame as a backdrop for a dessert table or try to mimic the mantel display from above:

Using bamboo silverware is a great alternative to plastic - it looks better and it's better for the environment!

All that bunting had to come from somewhere, pick up map-printed wrapping paper for a variety of paper projects:

You can re-create those little drink flags in milk bottles from above:

*If glass milk bottles are out of your price range, you can pick up these plastic ones for the same effect at a lower price tag!

Spell out the baby's name or a message using these map covered monograms:

Display favors and silverware in little suitcases to keep with the travel theme:

OR you can even scour flea markets for some vintage suitcases like the ones we rented and piled up at our wedding:

You can pick up that bitty jadeite cake stand just about anywhere, put a simple white cake on there and use your map paper to string up a bit of cake bunting to embellish:

Don't forget to toss globes everywhere - find them at flea markets and thrift stores - you can always dress up a damaged globe with some DIY projects:
